THE DREAM

Picture this...A 12-year-old girl at an Atlanta Hawks game- mom on one side, brother on the other...completely intrigued by the big stage (court), the lights, the cameras, all of it. However, it's not even the players warming up that grabs this girl's attention, it's something happening in the corner of the court. A woman following her dreams, a dream that just so happens to take place in a predominately male-centered world. It was at that moment where the little girl turned to her mom and said, "Mom, that's what I want to be when I grow up."

MY STORY

Anchor

Reporter

Producer

Growing up with two brothers, I have always been surrounded by sports. Playing basketball to swimming, gymnastics, and football; sports just runs in my blood. I am a graduate from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) with a degree in Digital Media & Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Communication Studies.

I am currently a sports anchor/reporter/producer at WTOK in Meridian, MS. Coming right out of college and finding this job has been more than I could possibly ask for in a first job. I anchor the sports segment on the 10 O'Clock news, five nights a week while also covering any and all sports events in Mississippi and Alabama. During football season (the most hectic, but greatest time of the year) we do, "Football Friday's" which is a high school football highlight show that airs every Friday starting with a live shot at a different high school each week. Just this past year we also put on an hour-long football talk show where we extended high school football coverage as well as added junior college and college football. I cover college football anywhere from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Alabama, all the Junior Colleges and SWAC teams in our viewing area. I produce the sports segment on the weekends- shooting, editing, and writing all stories, while also turning packages weekly.

I will continue to pursue my goals and reach for my dreams until one day a little girl will look up and be pointing at me when she says, "Mom, that's what I want to be when I grow up."
